XOCÔ is Mestre Sérgio Xocolate performing traditional Afro Indigenous Brazilian rhythms fused with rock, psychedelic music and other contemporary influences.
Conceived in Sérgio's hometown of Recife in Pernambuco Brazil on Turtle Island South, the project was actually brought to life and fostered here in T'Karonto (Toronto), Kaniatario (Ontario), Kanata (Canada) on Turtle Island North.
Besides being an award-winning composer, international recording artist, singer/songwriter, percussionist and artistic ambassador of traditional Indigenous & Afro Brazilian culture, Mestre Sérgio Xocolate is a master teacher of capoeira and a lifelong arts educator.
With a penchant for composing songs on the streetcar, Sérgio is currently launching his new album that boasts his original compositions and merges poetry, politics and spirituality while paying homage to his Afro-Indigenous ancestors by breathing new life and lyrics into powerful inherited rhythms.
