Parisa Karimi Molan and Tehrani Drom

Parisa Karimi Molan is a vocalist from Iran’s East Azerbaijan and Arasbaran regions, where music carries memory, resistance, and deep emotional roots. She began singing in the 1990s, at a time when women’s voices were increasingly silenced in public life in Iran. After decades of hidden practice and private performances, Parisa moved to Montréal in 2017, where she was finally able to sing freely. Rooted in Persian classical music and enriched by Azeri, Turkish, and folk traditions, her voice reflects both ancestral heritage and lived resilience. This debut album, Unveiled, marks the fulfillment of a lifelong dream—and the emergence of a voice long kept in silence.
Tehrani Drom (which means "Tehrani Road" in the Romani language) is a Montreal-based band that interprets music from Iran and its neighbouring countries. The group features Parisa Karimi Molan (vocals in Azeri and Farsi), Sergiu Popa (accordion), Noémy Braun (cello), Pooria Pournazeri (daf, dayereh, tombak, setar), Mohammad Aman (tar), and Srwa Hassani (Kurdish vocals). Their music has been featured on major media outlets around the world, including the CBC, Japan’s “Barakan Beat”, NPR and even France24 News.
