Celebrated for her vocal power and dynamic stage presence, Marta Elena is an accomplished composer, percussionist & bandleader. She belongs to the younger generation of Cuban musicians who honour their country’s Afro-Latin musical roots while seeking new expressions of the musical traditions that course through the veins of the island nation.

​

Having toured internationally with the legendary Cuban group Anacaona and now based in Toronto, Canada, Marta has been invited to perform with Yani Borrell, Conjunto Lacalu and the Juno-winning Cuban jazz pianist Hilario Duran and featured at the Lulaworld, Salsa on St. Clair and Latin Sparks festivals.

 

Marta dedicates her first full length album to her mother and to women fighting for equality around the world.
