Sean Bellaviti & Conjunto Lacalu represent the very best of Toronto’s internationally renowned salsa scene. Founded and directed by pianist/composer Sean Bellaviti, this ensemble couples a dynamic three-trumpet horn section with a rhythm section featuring Afro-Cuban percussion, piano, bass and Cuban tres guitar. 2017 saw the release of the group’s critically acclaimed debut album, Sean Bellaviti & Conjunto Lacalu: Toronto Mambo! (Lulaworld Records). This album features a cast of world-class Toronto-based musician as well as two very special guests: legendary sonero Herman Olivera and powerhouse trombonist Jimmy Bosch. Singled out for its outstanding musicianship, Conjunto Lacalu has also been the supporting band of choice for many visiting salseros including Henry Fiol, Tito Rojas, Tony Vega, and Eddie Santiago among many others.
