RELEASES
Through years of touring around the world, across Canada, and collaborating with Juno and Grammy Award-winning performers, Eliana Cuevas has grown into an accomplished singer-songwriter and bandleader with unlimited colours in her compositional and lyrical palette. She has released 6 albums of original music to this date: Cohesión (2001), Ventura (2004) Vidas (2007), Espejo (2013), Golpes y Flores (2017) and El Curruchá (2021). Eliana has performed with a long list of prominent artists such as Larnell Lewis, Jorge Glem, Hamilton de Holanda, Mario Laginha, Jane Bunnett, Jesse Cook, Alex Cuba, Hermeto Pascoal, Hilario Durán, David Rudder, OKAN, Mark Kelso, Rich Brown, Alexis Baró, Laila Biali, Aquiles Báez and Emilie-Claire Barlow among others.
Seré Libre (2023), released on ALMA RECORDS, is Eliana’s most recent musical adventure. A 7- song collection featuring imaginative orchestral versions of her original repertoire with a focus on her Venezuelan roots. Eliana stresses that “the focus of this album is to showcase a very unique orchestral take on my music, which is based on the Venezuelan tradition. Venezuelan music is a universe of sounds and rhythms as rich and broad as the music from Cuba and Brazil but not as widely known. Being able to feature it in an orchestral setting like this was a dream come true”. This album will be Eliana’s debut recording with the Angel Falls Orchestra—a new 27-piece orchestra featuring some of the best and most versatile classical players in Toronto, arranged, conducted, and produced by Juno Award winning pianist Jeremy Ledbetter. This album will be the seventh entry in Eliana’s impressive and eclectic discography. She has never been constrained by genre boxes in her songwriting, drawing freely from jazz, Latin, folk, and world music elements. This stylistic diversity is reflected in the fact that she has won a Canadian National Jazz Award for Latin Jazz Artist of the Year, two Toronto Independent Music Awards for Best World Music Artist, an Independent Music Award for Best Latin Album in New York, and a Canadian Folk Music Award for World Solo Artist of the Year. Most recently, she was also nominated with her latest album “El Curruchá” in the Global Music Artist category at the Canadian Folk Music Awards 2022.
